A great day out in mostly hot sunshine down at Coldingham bay and a rock hopping adventure to St Abbs and beyond. Thankyou Katerina for organising fabulous weather . Alan stated that it was the calmest conditions he had paddled St Abbs. There was a fleet of dive boats out. Alison and Brian knew some of them as they dive there regularly.
We were dive bombed by gullimots, screeched at by gulls, remonstrated by terns and we admired some razorbills. It was reminiscent of bird life on the cliffs of St Kilda.
Paddling around skerries with a gentle swell out we encountered extreme fishermen perched precariously on the cliffs. A friendly wave and the 9 of us headed to Pettico Wick bay for lunch. Music supplied by the anglers and then Graham chivvied us along for a more bumpy return as the wind did gust up for a while. Pool session practice coming in handy when stabilizing your boat. Marie ,Stephen and the rest of us made it back to the start without mishap.
Graham ,Alan and Katerina enjoyed the surf in the bay whilst the rest of us admired their surfing skills.
Hope I can go again in such pleasant conditions. Lovely company and many thanks to Katerina for ‘ a good day out’.
