SOS Puffin at The Lamb

LSKC Mallow Bashing

Once or twice a year LSKC have a trip to The Lamb near North Berwick to clear tree mallow and eat cake. Clearing the tree mallow allow space for puffins to nest.

Project SOS Puffin

Project SOS Puffin is an initiative run by the Scottish Seabiird Centre to remove invasive tree mallow from iFidra, The Lamb and Craigleith in the outer Forth near North Berwick. The tree mallow takes over from grassy areas that puffins need to nest. You can read about the bigger project on the SOS Puffin page of the Seabird Centre .

LSKC and The Lamb

The Lamb does not have a suitable landing spot for larger boats. Landing and launching kayaks on The Lamb can be made difficult by the swell and the steep rocky shore.

Even when boats are carried up the shore, the incoming tide can enforce a speedy departure as the kayaks begin to float.

Cutting tree mallow

Tree mallow can cover all parts of the island and can require scrambling to access.

Cake

Cakes are required to provide energy to replace what has been used in cutting the mallow.
