10th September N Berwick to Bass Rock

3 of us met at Milsey Bay on a misty friday morning for a quick trip out to the Bass and Seacliffe. David Simpson , Sarah Stark & myself . Calm seas and visibility of 200m , minimal wind and a falling tide. We met a man testing a thermal imaging drone ( as you do!). Uneventful paddle , the bearings I had marked in the case of denser mist were uneccesary. The captain of an Anstruther rib had landed folk on the Bass Rock & had come across the Forth in denser mist ( with satnav!). we went around the Bass anti-clockwise and was as calm as I’ve ever seen. Usual cacophony of gannets and a few juveniles on the water and unable to fly. Low tide so we only just managed to negotioate the gap at the ‘pulpit’. Headed off to Seacliffe for Coffee and stroopwaffels.  Only item of note was a skinnydipper. Headed back to N Berwick and met two pairs of Sea Kayakers  one of them Mike a club member with a newbie Masha.

Would have loved to have stayed longer but I had an afternoon engagement. Good company and banter.

Ideal conditions and makes me glad we have this beautiful area on our doorstep.
