Parking

Club members should park in the private parking area within the compound if possible. A keybox with code available to members is required for vehicle to access to the compund.

If space is not available within the compound (possibly due to it being in use by another organisation) please park in one of the areas marked in red. That ensures that the public parking spaces do not get clogged.

Additional parking is sometimes available in the blue area but not when boats are being launched and retrieved. Please do not park any further down than this or on any grassy areas.

Access and Security

Main gate

The main gate is open to the public between 09:00 and 17:00 and should be left open between these times. Access to the harbour outside of public opening times is via a key within a keysafe next to the main gate. The gate should be locked after use outside of public opening times unless there are lots of people still using the harbour, or it is not long after 17:00 and not all cars have left the public parking area.

Compound gate

The compound is also gated with an adjacent key safe. This gate should be closed and locked at all times after use, unless there is an activity taking place within the compound. Anyone with legitimate access to the compound will be given the key code on request.

CCTV cameras

Please be aware that you will be recorded by security cameras on the site

Launching and Retrieval

You can launch and retrieve from either the slip or the wee beach (marked in yellow). The slip turns to mud when the LW water level is approx. 1.6 metres high. Please check tide levels. 1 hour after LW is usually OK , 1.5-2 hours after LW is usually fine even for particularly low tides ( 0.4m). Bear this in mind for returning as well as launching!

Toilets

The toilet unit is adjacent to the workshop building and is accessed via key safe on the gents door. The keysafe contains 2 keys, marked with red and green tape-red for unlocking the boys’ toilets, green for girls toilets (to the left of the unit).

Fresh water

There are several obvious fresh water hoses- one on the slip and another beside the disabled parking. Water should be used sparingly, but sufficient to remove dirt etc which is otherwise likely to accumulate in the containers. This is also to minimize invasive species transfer!

Long Craig Island

The small rocky island west of the pier is a nesting place for Arctic Terns and is protected. Please do not bother the birds or attempt to land on the island,
