Anstruther to Elie, Sunday 20th January
Great idea of Neil Black to get us 10 of us out for a paddle along the Fife coast today. Launching from Anstruther we made the most of the incoming tide to paddle upstream against a weakening westerly F3. Enroute to Elie we popped into the harbours at Pittenweem and St Monans where there was a fine display of welly boots on the slipway. A drizzly lunch stop in Elie then back to Anstruther with David Grieve leading some rock hopping along the coastline. Wind had dropped and the tide had turned so we were back onshore with day light to spare. Cold toes were quickly remedied by some highly calorific and delicious nutty chocolate cake which Fiona magicked up ashore. A fine days paddle was then further topped by an amazing sunset on the run back to Embra. Total distance of 19.41km according to Mike’s GPS so definitely my longest paddle so far. Thanks to all.
