A break in the torrential rain on Saturday 10 August allowed a dash along the coast from Elie to Anstruther, via lunch at the Smokehouse in St Monans, and a leg stretch in Pittenweem. All 4 harbours showed their prettiest side in the sunshine. Conditions at sea had driven in many colourful fishing boats, and still showed in the huge swell throughout the paddle. The forecast thunderstorms held off well into the late evening, but we had the benefit of dramatic black skies for backdrop… and a bank of fog suddenly dropping on us on the last stretch back to Elie. A short trip with a lot of excitement.
