Snowy Inchcolm pootle Sat 2nd Dec

Inspired by Alices Antarctic kayak guiding talk a few nights previous a bunch of paddlers set out on a snowy Saturday pootle. Starting at Aberdour we slide our boats down the snowy beach into a glassy bay, no need for trolleys and a first for me, snow on sand. Paddling out, a floating Bass rock was spotted in the distance, the cold weather causing a superior mirage. We made our way past the cliffs and round the bay, after working out the movements of an oil tanker around the islands we headed across the shipping channel as a group of wooly hats curving our way round into Inchcolm island bay. Joined by a couple more intrepid paddlers who’d swung by Inchmickery, spotting porpoise along the way we all jumped out of our boats. A quick scoot round the abbey, we stopped for hot drinks, fabulous homemade cake and best gloves/pogies, warmest kit chat before getting back on the water to paddle round the island spotting a few seals. Lining ourselves up with Ha lighthouse we then headed back to Silver Sands past a lobster pot fisherman making his daily rounds. Thanks to Louise for organising and leading a great chilled out Saturday paddle, perfect adventure for christening your new boat I reckon:)
