Fourteen members enjoyed a weekend paddling from TIg-na-Mara campsite over the weekend.
Conditions on the west coast were unseasonally cool and windy, presenting some challenges. Saturday we paddled all the way up to Mallaig braving strong winds (F4-F5) and beam seas, early in the paddle we had one casualty as a member had an inner ear problem and had to be escorted to shore and one paddler dropped out at Mallaig rather than battle through the chunky seas all the way home, we all helped each other and made it back in good spirits.
Social activities curtailed by the cool wind the next day brought better weather so we explored Arisag bay and the skerries, some good challenges in the shape of rock breaks and narrow gaps were found by Kevin leading in his rapid Pace, everyone was able to have a go at timing runs in the face of the still considerable wave action. We pottered around Arisaig bay for the rest of the day lunching at the village.
Thanks to Janek for leading the paddle assisted by Keving, Michael, Tim and myself
