Arisaig to Small Isles 9-14 May 2026

Not long made it back from our stunning club sea kayaking trip to the Inner Hebrides. With initially 7 members interested we had some drop outs and then a couple more cancellations at the last minute due to the weather forecast!

So we ended up with only 3 of us on a very early start to get the tides and weather windows.

We paddled out from Arisaig Bay to Eigg on day 1 with a lunch stop in the fantastic Eigg Community Cafe. I foolishly thought my team would then like to chill for the afternoon in the sunshine but NO !!

After some discussions, the girls won, and we headed to the North of the island – another 3hrs where we struggled into a F5 across the last bay to camp.

Following morning the sea and wind had eased and we crossed to Rum for an afternoon exploring Kinloch with its amazing castle.

Day 3 up the east coast and over to Canna for a couple of days of exploring – we even beat the campsite folks who were getting the Ferry.

Took in a few hills too and enjoyed the excellent restaurant.

Might take me a month to recover then off on the next one! Not so used to these big crossings these days.

All well worth it. What a stunning area and great company with Sarah Stark and Clare Eadie

One of our best kayak trips so far.
